Kaspersky and the war in Ukraine
Much doubt, but little proof.

Due to the recent developments in Ukraine and Russia's involvement in this, there are more and more questions about Kaspersky's security software. Kaspersky software has its headquarters in Moscow, Russia (Source: Kaspersky.com).
As a Russian company, Kaspersky is also bound by Russian law. That law requires Kaspersky to help Russia's intelligence service if it asks for it. Kaspersky says it has never helped a government with digital espionage or malicious intent and stresses that there are no ties between the Kaspersky board and the Russian government.
What is true about the rumours and to what extent there is an actual link with the Russian government is difficult to find out. However, several countries have taken measures against the Kaspersky company in the past.
Are there alternatives?
Yes, there are plenty of alternatives. Qualitative solutions are even better than Kaspersky. On several security parts of the Kaspersky software, there are other brands that score better. For example; Kaspersky Total Security has a VPN that is limited to 300MB per day, Norton 360 has a VPN that can connect in unlimited numbers. Looking for a huge number of locations? Then choose NordVPN with the fastest VPN speed and over 5000 locations worldwide to connect to.
Then speed; Kaspersky's software only gets heavier over the years and therefore slows down your PC or Mac. Recent tests have shown that McAfee and Bitdefender offer more speed compared to Kaspersky.
Finally, Kaspersky lacks the Dark Web monitoring component to protect your privacy; Norton 360 offers Dark Web monitoring as standard and also with McAfee this is included with certain packages (Identity protection is part of Total Protection with VPN).
Is there evidence of a link to the Russian government?
It is important to note that there is no evidence of Russian government interference in the Kaspersky company. There is also no evidence that the software has been modified or that any backdoors have been built in. But sometimes a feeling can be enough to make a switch. After all, there are plenty of alternatives.
Kaspersky has launched a transparency offensive to dispel rumours of interference. Check out Kaspersky's own website to find out what the company is doing to show that there is no need to worry.
